We’ve all experienced illness at some point in our lives. Sometimes, medical treatments are effective and provide a cure, but there are instances when they seem to fall short, leaving us needing miraculous healing. Thankfully, there are many powerful verses on healing in the Bible. And turning to God’s Word will always provide hope, peace, and even miraculous outcomes, especially in those desperate moments. Remember, God’s Word is life to those who find them and health to all their flesh (Proverbs 4:20-22). And all His promises are true.
So in this blog post, I want to share a personal testimony of how my application of two of God’s powerful Bible verses about healing brought miracles for my son. If you need a healing miracle, I encourage you to read on and discover the two healing verses I have tested and proven to be true. So here goes.
When he was 11, my son came down with an unknown illness. And despite receiving medical treatment, he continued to suffer. The doctors prescribed medicine to alleviate his symptoms. While the medications initially helped, they caused his face to swell beyond recognition. As a result, he became the target of ridicule and shame from his classmates. He became depressed and suicidal. And as you can imagine, as his mother, it broke my heart to see him endure such suffering. We needed a miracle.
In those darkest moments, I knew my only option was to put my faith in God’s powerful promises for my son’s miraculous healing and restoration.
Exploring Bible Verses About Healing
For this reason, I decided to look for Bible verses about healing. It was then the Holy Spirit led me to two passages. One of the verses, Isaiah 52:14, describes vividly how Jesus’ face was disfigured beyond recognition after He bore our sickness and diseases. After reading, it made me ask myself, if Jesus experienced facial distortion to pay for our healing, why was I allowing my son to take medicine that caused a swollen face in my attempt to get him healed? Jesus had already done a perfect job on the cross! The process didn’t need repeating!
“But any were amazed when they saw him. His face was so disfigured he seemed hardly human, and from his appearance, one would scarcely know he was a man.”
Isaiah 52:14
Then, He led me to Isaiah 53:5, the other verse describing the brutal beatings and stripes Jesus endured for our healing. Not only that, He took our shame. And again, the question arose inside me, why was my son experiencing shame in his healing journey when Jesus had already done it for him?
“But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes, we are healed.”
Isaiah 53:5
The Word of God Will Move You
For sure, these two Bible verses about healing transformed me. So much so that I decided I had enough evidence that Jesus had already borne my son’s sickness and suffering on the cross.
I remember shouting, “That’s it! That’s the answer!” And despite the possibility of his symptoms returning. I knew I had to take my son off the medicine that provided partial healing and caused other problems.
Then after speaking with his doctors, I signed documents to terminate that prescription by faith. I was no longer looking to that medication for wholeness. Instead, I looked to the finished work of Jesus to get complete healing with no adverse side effects.
Holding on to Bible Verses About Healing.
Sadly, it’s been three weeks since we stopped his medicine, yet the swelling was still there. And even worse, some of his symptoms, joint pain, and decreased appetite, started to return. It was an understatement to say it was a battle to keep my focus on God’s truth rather than the physical evidence before me. All because fear was knocking at my heart. And doubt tried to steal my revelation of my child’s healing. It’s as though they were trying to convince me that I had made the wrong decision. “Lord, help me!”
That situation reminded me of a story in Matthew 14:22-23 When Peter stepped out of the boat and started walking on the water toward Jesus. Then he noticed the wind and rain around him and started sinking.
Because at that moment, I felt like Peter. I also trusted Jesus and started “walking on water” (looking to Jesus, my son’s healer). Then like him, I noticed the wind and rain ( my son’s symptoms) and was “sinking” (I started to doubt).
Then Peter exited the boat, walked on the water, and came toward Jesus. But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, “Lord, save me!”
Matthew 14:22-23
Thankfully, like Peter, I cried, “Lord, save me!” And out of His infinite grace and mercy, He reminded me of a verse in James 1:6-7. Which states, “But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord.”
It was clear that God wanted me to note that my doubt would hinder my faith- a necessity for healing.
And to remove any doubt and increase my confidence, reading and meditating on scripture together is the best way.
So then, I meditated (not just read) on Isaiah 53:5 and 52:14. Doing that helped me to keep my eyes on Jesus, erased my doubts—and strengthened my faith to “walk on water” toward his healing and restoration.
God’s Healing Scriptures are Sharp.
And as I prayed and stood on the truth of the Lord about wholeness and recovery, I also prayed those two Bible verses about healing over my son. I noticed that not all of my son’s illnesses had returned. Seeing that gave me hope that something was moving in the spirit realm. All I had to do was focus on God’s promises and keep believing. So every day, I would say, “Father, I thank you that by the stripes of Jesus, my son was already healed, in Jesus’ name.“
And, “Jesus, your face was swollen for my son’s healing. -He didn’t need to endure it again, Amen.”
In about six weeks, the most miraculous thing happened! All of the returned symptoms started to subside! Little by little, I began to see my son’s healing manifestation. And his face returned to its normal state. And with counseling support from our church family, he gradually grew emotionally healthier. Praise the Lord!
“For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword… .”
Hebrews 4:12
Several years later, he is still walking in his complete healing. And although we never found out what caused his illness, God did and had already provided healing. Hallelujah! I am grateful to the Lord for His power to heal. And I give Him all the praise and glory for what He has done.
“Father, I thank you that by the stripes of Jesus, my son is healed, in Jesus’ name.”

And as a reminder of the importance of letting go of doubts and exercising your faith in His word.
I encourage you to consider the Word of God. Pray and ask God for instruction and wisdom about your situation. Read and meditate on His Word. Also, consider seeking Godly counsel from your pastor or other mature believers.
Ultimately, do what you feel led to do by the Holy Spirit and receive your healing. Remember, He promised to lead you to all truth (John 16:13). Also, God wants you well (“Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.” 3 John 2).
